Last night on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” the 2025 NBA All-Star reserves for the upcoming All-Star Game in San Francisco on February 16 were revealed. The reserves were selected by the league’s head coaches, and the announcement was made during the pregame show.
The Eastern Conference reserves include some standout players who have been making significant impacts this season. Boston’s Jaylen Brown, Indiana’s Pascal Siakam, Cleveland’s Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, Detroit’s Cade Cunningham, Milwaukee’s Damian Lillard, and Miami’s Tyler Herro have all earned their spots. Cunningham, Herro and Mobley are first-time All-Stars.
The Western Conference reserves feature a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars. San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama, Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Clippers’ James Harden, Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr., Houston’s Alperen Sengun, and Oklahoma City’s Jalen Williams round out the selections. Wembanyama and Williams are also first-time All-Stars, highlighting the league’s growing talent pool.
This year, the All-Star Game will feature a new tournament-style format. The 24 All-Stars will be divided into three teams of eight players each, with the teams being drafted by TNT analysts and honorary team general managers Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith. The three teams, plus the winner of the rising stars game, will compete in a mini-tournament, with the winners advancing to the championship game.
As always, there were some notable snubs who narrowly missed out on making the All-Star team. Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball, Atlanta’s Trae Young, Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis, Phoenix’s Devin Booker, Dallas’ Kyrie Irving, Orlando’s Franz Wagner, and the Clippers’ Norman Powell were among those who did not make the cut.
With the All-Star Game just around the corner, fans are eagerly anticipating the matchups, with the new format promising to add an extra layer of excitement and competition, making this year’s All-Star Game one to watch.
