The GOAT debate has made its way back into the spotlight, largely thanks to Scottie Pippen, who returned with a fresh round of hot takes and insider info on the “PBD Podcast.”
Pippen has offered his take on the debate many times over the years. And why wouldn’t he? As Michael Jordan’s former teammate, he’s been right at the center of the discussion. But what’s interesting is how Pippen’s choice seems to change each time he addresses it.
Pippen has gone on record declaring Jordan as the GOAT last year, yet as far back as 2011, he said LeBron James might be the greatest player of all time. It seems like the debate is a tough one for Pippen, who’s now flipping his stance once more, claiming that Magic Johnson deserves the title over both Jordan and LeBron.
“Neither one of them are GOATs. They both won differently. You can’t put them at the top of the pinnacle. Magic Johnson, to me, is a bigger GOAT than anybody. Because of how he led, how he brought a whole team together, how when the greatest scorer in the game, Kareem, wasn’t there, he stepped in as a rookie center and played a position no one even knew he could play.”
