7’7 Manute Bol Switched Bodies With Future Steph Curry For One Game In 1993

March 3, 1993 – Philadelphia 76ers vs Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns were in absolute control of the game the first half, so coach Doug Moe started the second half with Manute Bol at center to shake things up. The duo of Greg Grant and Manute ended up being the unlikely heroes. The Suns got scared of Bol and his height. They avoided attacking the basket and didn’t take ridiculously open shots at times. On the other end of the floor Manute, to everyone’s delight, started jacking up threes. Even the Phoenix crowd was in awe.

Back then, it wasn’t common for big men to shoot the three. Manute made 6 threes in one half, hitting more threes in that half than he did in the remainder of the other 215 games he played for the Sixers.

Bol already was a once-in-a-lifetime player, but when will we ever see a center decide to camp behind the three point line (in the 37th game of the season), even though he’s made one shot from long range the whole year!?
