Former Bulls Head Coach Jim Boylen Suggests Russell Westbrook Should Come Off The Bench For The Lakers
Ever since Russell Westbrook was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, there have been concerns about how Westbrook would fit in their rotation, considering his nagging issues on the offensive end, as well as playing alongside LeBron James who shares a similar role as him in terms of being a lead ball-handler.
This season, Westbrook is averaging 17.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 9.4 assists and 6.0 turnovers per game on 42.2% shooting. While the 32-year old point guard definitely fills up the stat-sheet, his problems have been glaring and unavoidable for the Lakers, who have started the season 2-3.
It’s too early in the season for any conclusive talks on any player in the league including Westbrook, but not one bit of it matters to former Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen. In an appearance on NBA TV, Boylen said that 32-year old Lakers star might be better off coming off the bench for the purple and gold.
“What about, maybe, coming off the bench and play against the back-up? He’s a willing passer, he tries to make people better… he’s tough as nails, but his decisions need to improve.”
