16 Years Ago Today, The Largest Trade In NBA History Helped Miami Win Its First Championship
16 years ago today, ahead of the 2005-06 NBA season, the largest trade in NBA history was completed, as five teams combine to swap 13 players, topping a 12-player trade completed in 2000.
The Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, New Orleans Hornets and Utah Jazz all were involved and each acquired:
Celtics: Albert Miralles, Qyntel Woods, Curtis Borchardt, two second-round picks
Grizzlies: Eddie Jones, Raul Lopez
Heat: Antoine Walker, Jason Williams, James Posey, Andre Emmett, Roberto Duenas
Hornets: Rasual Butler, Kirk Snyder
Jazz: Greg Ostertag
As you can see, this deal brought Antoine Walker and Jason Williams to the Miami Heat and helped win the Heat’s first ever championship that same season.
