Teammates Say LaMelo Ball Was Arrogant And Lazy In Lithuania

This past December, LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball signed professional contracts with Lithuanian team Prienu Vytautas. In becoming professional players, both ended their NCAA eligibility. While the majority of their playing time came in Big Baller Brand exhibition games, which were played against subpar competition such as amateur and youth teams, LiAngelo became one of the leading scorers in the league. With LiAngelo currently injured and LaMelo not getting much playing time in the league, their father, LaVar Ball, has decided that he will be pulling his sons out of Lithuania even though there are two games left in the season.

The two brothers arrived back in the U.S. on Monday and came back with more question marks concerning their professional basketball future than prior to their departure.

Yesterday, Jeff Goodman joined ESPN’s ‘Outside the Lines’ and said that, according to teammates, LaMelo Ball was called lazy and arrogant.

“For LaMelo, it wasn’t very good. He barely played in the Lithuanian League games. One former teammates described him to me earlier today as ‘lazy’ and ‘arrogant.’ Wasn’t really engaged in the whole process, played undisciplined, which we’ve seen in AAU ball. But didn’t really get better. And that’s the goal over there for a 16-year-old is to improve and get better. Multiple people I talked to on that team, on Vytautas, said LaMelo really never bought in.”
