Rasheed Wallace, Stephen Jackson and Others, personally deliver water to Flint!

Even though most media seems to have lost interest in the Flint water crisis, it still is very existing and real.

“We gonna head up to Flint, go head and get this water situation straight. Everyone thinks the crisis has been settled, but it hasn’t.”

-Rasheed Wallace

After Flint changed its water source from treated Detroit Water and Sewerage Department water to the Flint River in April 2014, its drinking water had a series of problems that culminated with lead contamination, creating a serious public health danger. The corrosive Flint River water caused lead from aging pipes to leach into the water supply, causing extremely elevated levels of the heavy metal. In Flint, between 6,000 and 12,000 children have been exposed to drinking water with high levels of lead and they may experience a range of serious health problems. The water change is also a possible cause of an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in the county that has killed 10 people and affected another 77. (Via Wikipedia)

“We take it for granted because we live in other cities and our water is fine. But just imagine if it was happening in your town. You damn sure would want help, too, so that’s why we’re here.”

-Rasheed Wallace

Rasheed Wallace, who played for the Detroit Pistons from 2004 to 2009, hasn’t forgotten about Flint. He took some of his old NBA friends (Stephen Jackson e.g), ESPN’s ‘The Jump’ memebers, as well as friend and family members on a trip to Flint, where they filled up trucks with drinking water and went on to give it to the people of Flint.

“It’s been a while since Rasheed Wallace played for the Detroit Pistons, but he hasn’t forgotten the area, and he hasn’t forgotten the people of Flint, Michigan, who still don’t have safe drinking water. So Wallace, some of his NBA friends, some of us from ESPN and a bunch of Sheed’s friends and family took a little trip to Flint over this past weekend. What happened next was really cool, and I downloaded some of my Snapchat and Instagram posts into a video:”
