Oladipo’s Injury Does Not Require Surgery; Will Be Back Soon

The Oklahoma City Thunder were without Victor Oladipo for the fourth game in a row during Monday night’s 110-108 loss to Atlanta. Oladipo is battling a right wrist sprain, an injury that affects his shooting.

Prior to Monday’s game the 24-year-old guard went through limited drills, using only his left hand for dribbling and passing.

Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Billy Donovan noted Oladipo is ”getting better and progressing.” But, he added that the guard ”can’t do anything” with the injured hand.

However, there’s no need for Oladipo to go under the knife–at least for now.

”Based on the MRI he went through, based on our medical team consulting with the doctor, there’s no need for surgery,” Donovan said. “He’s got swelling. He’s got discomfort. He has a lack of mobility. He has pain when he’s in certain positions.”

Nothing should be rushed, thinks head coach Donovan.

“My understanding is that if he really forces this thing and tries to come back too fast, it could be something that’s going to be prolonged,” he said.

Victor Oladipo has been a valuable asset for Oklahoma City as he’s averaged 16.1 points, 2.8 assists along with 4.5 rebounds 24 games played this season. Russell Westbrook and Oladipo have quickly become one of the best point guard/shooting guard duos in the league. Watching their run-and-gun style of play is a sight to see.
