New Coach? Knicks Reach Out To Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson, Jerry Stackhouse And David Fizdale

The New York Knicks are looking for a new head coach once again. Even though the Knicks still are one of the biggest teams when it comes to marketing and advertising value, they haven’t been able to live up to it in the last few decades (ever?). In the past few years, the Knicks were especially far off, and haven’t had a winning season since 2012-13.

But since the Knicks organisation still thinks they are among the league’s best teams, and a franchise most players and coaches crave to work for, they are reaching out to every big coaching name on the market to replace Jeff Hornacek.

According to a source close to the Knicks search, Van Gundy and Jackson join a growing list of head coaching candidates that the Knicks have officially reached out to. That list includes former Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale, who revealed Friday that he will interview with the Knicks next week.

Also, Jerry Stackhouse, the coach of Toronto’s G-League affiliate, has been contacted and could have an interview date confirmed by Monday.

Van Gundy has previously coached the Knicks from 1996 to 2001 and now works as a commentator for ESPN and ABC. A similar story than Mark Jackson, who currently works with Van Gundy as a commentator and who was a point guard for the Knicks when Van Gundy was their coach.
