The Knicks’ Interest In Re-Signing Derrick Rose

The days of Derrick Rose being a superstar are long gone. But, he had a decent (offensively – on defense he was horrible) season with the New York Knicks, averaging 18.0 points 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists, with a PER of 17 and a true shooting percentage of 53. Derrick Rose is a free-agent now, but according to Ian Begley, The New York Knicks have legitimate interest in re-signing Derrick Rose.

The New York Knicks have “legitimate” interest in re-signing Derrick Rose, league sources familiar with the matter said. The Knicks’ interest in the point guard is dependent on several factors, including his health and his asking price.

The current Knicks’ roster does not attrackt star free-agents like Chris Paul or Kyle Lowry. Probably not even players like Jeff Teague, Jrue Holiday or George Hill. So their only chance in getting a leader for rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina, is to keep Derrick Rose. This has to happen on a contract worth way less than the previous one tho. Rose earned $21,3 million this past season, but every penny more than $10-12 million would be too much, and honestly not worth it.

With Phil Jackson most likely be fired today, we might have to wait for his replacement, before knowing if he too intends to keep Derrick Rose as a Knicks player.
