James Harden Reveals That NBA Mothers Have Meetings To Talk Behind Their Sons’ Backs

Stories involving mothers of NBA players aren’t a regular thing in the leauge. It mostly has to be something special to be reported.

Kevin Durant’s mother, Wanda, for example who we all know as the real MVP.  During his 2014 MVP speech, Durant thanked his mother and gave her the props for his success. A meme was born.

We have also heard stories about LeBron James’ mother. Without going into detail, let’s just say ‘Delonte West’.

Now, in an interview with GQ, James Harden revealed that NBA mothers have meetings to talk about their sons behind their backs.

Harden takes evident pride that his career has enabled his mother, Monja Willis, to have an NBA life of her own. Willis is one of a bumper crop of delightful NBA moms, led by Draymond Green‘s mom, Mary Babers-Green, and Kevin Durant’s “real MVP,” Wanda. They are funny, salty, ferociously protective of their sons, and living their best lives on Instagram. “My mom—she hangs out with, like, moms of other players that I don’t even talk to,” Harden says, amused.

“There are mom meetings, things like that.”

You’re joking, right?

“No, I’m serious. Mom meetings. That makes me happy, ’cause they get to talk about their sons behind our backs. She deserves that.”

This sounds like the start of a new reality show? The real mothers of the NBA!
