Gregg Popovich: “Tim Duncan is being fined $2,500 a day every day he doesn’t show up.”

After exactly 1001 wins throughout 19 seasons, and 5 championships as a coach-player tandem, Tim Duncan left Coach Gregg Popovich for retirement. For the first time in almost two decades, a new NBA season begins without the best player coach duo the NBA has ever seen.

Timmy might be gone, but Pop thankfully hasn’t lost his sense of humor that we all love. During an in-game interview in the Spurs season opener against the Warriors, Popovich was asked about how he’ll go through the season without Duncan. As always, Gregg Popovich had the perfect response:

“Tim Duncan is being fined $2,500 a day every day he doesn’t show up.”
